The styling is bit similar to the Outlander on sale in India. The ASX is an urban car and not meant for the hard core outdoors. The styling is in the softroader mould and not like an out and out 4WD. The headlights are similar to the ones on the Outlander and there is a prominent ‘jetfighter grille’ up front. The ASX looks niche with soft edges and flowing lines. The belt line gently rises and it’s hard to miss out on the similarity to the Evo X. The styling is well proportioned but this isn’t a car which you could buy just on how it looks. Amongst the changes for 2013 include 17-inch alloys, chrome exhaust and front foglamps.
The cabin is smart to look at but isn’t the most attractive around. The ASX is functional and though the quality generally is good, there are some hard plastic bits around too. The ASX nevertheless has soft touch plastics, the dash has use of chrome and the steering wheel is smart looking too. Safety features include ABS brakes with EBD, stability and traction control and front, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags as standard. Front and rear passengers get adequate space and the ASX can comfortably seat 5 adults. The top of the line variant gets leather interiors and standard on the ASX is the iPod / iPhone compatibility. There is also a 6.1-inch full colour touch screen and an option is the 7-inch WVGA full colour touch panel display and the Rockford Fosgate premium audio with nine speakers.
